Microsoft Engineer Apply
Position: Microsoft 365 Engineer
Duration: 3-6 Month Contract with potential to extend and/or convert full-time
Location: Rosemont, IL (Hybrid) - 60018
Job Details:
Responsible for the organization's Microsoft 365 tenant health, security, and infrastructure, including:
- Data Governance & Purview: Implement and manage Microsoft Purview for data classification, sensitivity labels, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to protect intellectual property.
- SharePoint & OneDrive: Architect and maintain the SharePoint Online environment, managing site collections, permissions, and external sharing policies.
- Email Security: Administer Exchange Online Protection (EOP) and Microsoft Defender for Office 365 to mitigate phishing, malware, and spoofing threats.
- Identity Management: Manage Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), including Conditional Access policies, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Group Policy transitions to the cloud.
- License Management: Manage, track, and audit M365 software licenses to ensure cost-efficiency and compliance.
Security & Business Continuity
Responsible for the execution of the organization's digital resilience and security posture:
- SaaS Backup & Recovery: Oversee the backup of critical M365 data (SharePoint, Teams, and Exchange) using cloud-to-cloud backup solutions.
- Compliance & Auditing: Conduct regular audits of the M365 environment using Purview eDiscovery and Audit tools to meet regulatory requirements.
- Vulnerability Management: Oversee automated patching and software updates for end-user devices via Microsoft Intune.
Endpoint & Telecommunications Management
- Intune / Mobile Device Management (MDM): Manage the lifecycle of mobile and tablet devices (iPhones, iPads, Android) and laptops via Endpoint Manager.
- Teams Voice: Administer the Microsoft Teams Phone system, including handsets, voicemail, and auto-attendants.
- Standardization: Recommend and manage standard hardware configurations for the laptop and handheld platforms.
Project Management & Procurement
- Technology Refresh: Manage the annual inventory and replacement cycle for hardware, ensuring all new equipment is enrolled in Autopilot for seamless deployment.
- Vendor Relations: Work with vendors for IT procurement, maintaining an inventory of key components to minimize downtime.
- Budgeting: Process and document vendor invoices and research new M365 integrations or third-party tools that add value to the organization.
Support & Professional Development
- Tier 2/3 Help Desk: Act as an escalation point for complex M365, SharePoint, or security-related support requests.
- Staff Training: Coordinate end-user training sessions, specifically regarding M365 best practices and security awareness (e.g., recognizing phishing).
- Policy Development: Work with the IT Manager to draft and enforce technology use policies, specifically around remote work and data privacy.
Top Skills & Qualifications
- M365 Security & Compliance: Deep expertise in Microsoft Purview, DLP, and Defender.
- SharePoint Online: Experience in site architecture and advanced permission management.
- Email Security: Proven track record in securing Exchange Online environments.
- Intune & Entra ID: Strong grasp of modern device management and identity security.
- Active Directory: Experience with hybrid environments (on-prem AD synced with Entra ID).
