Role Summary We are a rapidly growing organization seeking experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrators (multiple openings) to operate and maintain consolidated SQL Server high availability cluster environments and dedicated database instances supporting the DISA Joint Service Provider (JSP). The successful candidate will provide full database administration for enterprise databases (CORE, Domain Services, DMZ, SharePoint, VMware Infrastructure, SCCM, SCOM, Skype) and Mission Application databases across NIPR, SIPR, TIPR, and JWICS environments. This single posting covers Subject Matter Expert (Intermediate), Senior Database Management Specialist, and Database Administrator openings on the MS SQL team. Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain Platform Services Microsoft SQL Server High Availability (HA) Cluster Environments and database servers/instances in NIPR, SIPR, TIPR, and JWICS at primary and alternate site locations. Provide full database administration O&M for SQL Server enterprise application databases (CORE, Domain Services, DMZ, SharePoint, VMware Infrastructure, SCCM, SCOM, Skype) and Mission Application databases listed in the JSP Environmental Document. Provide basic database administration for customer-managed databases hosted on JSP enterprise SQL Server HA Cluster Environments, including attaching/detaching of databases and coordination with database owners. Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server services and software, including upgrades, patches, third‑party tools, and dependencies (clients, drivers, providers). Allocate and manage database storage; perform database, instance, and cluster configuration tuning and modifications. Create and manage database environment accounts, profiles, and permissions in accordance with cybersecurity requirements; manage application accounts for customer application administrators with direct DB access. Configure, schedule, monitor, and restore database, instance, server, and cluster backups; test and validate backup procedures at least annually. Configure, manage, and monitor database replication, synchronization, and failover for HA Cluster Environments and Mission Essential Systems (MES). Provide T‑SQL development, debugging, and performance tuning; produce entity‑relationship and data flow diagrams and database architecture diagrams as needed. Operate and maintain databases in accordance with DISA STIGs/SRGs; patch and remediate IAVA findings; validate and document cybersecurity compliance for application RMF accreditation at least annually; manage assigned cybersecurity POA&Ms. Provide after‑hours support for scheduled Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs), break/fix incidents, and incidents impacting Enterprise and MES Mission Application databases. Manage assigned incidents and service requests with detailed status/tasks/actions in the JSP ITSM tool. Minimum Qualifications Five (5) or more years of hands‑on experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA in a large enterprise environment, including SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, and replication (7+ years for the Senior and SME variants). Strong experience with SQL Server administration, T‑SQL development, performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and database recovery. Working knowledge of Windows Server platforms, PowerShell scripting, and SQL Server integration with VMware virtual environments. Experience with database backup tools, encryption (TDE), and DoD STIG/SRG hardening for SQL Server. Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF), IAVM remediation, and cybersecurity POA&M management for database environments. Experience supporting enterprise application databases (e.g., SharePoint, SCCM, SCOM, Skype/SfB) is strongly preferred. Microsoft SQL Server certification (e.g., MCSA: SQL or successor) strongly preferred. Strong troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to provide after‑hours/on‑call support for ASI and break/fix events. Education Requirement Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and five (5)+ years of documented relevant experience. Must meet DoD 8570.01‑M / DoD 8140 IAT Level II baseline certification requirements prior to start (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA‑Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or equivalent). Computing Environment certification appropriate to the role is also required. Clearance Requirement Must comply with all DoD, DISA, and JSP security and access protocols, including the ability to access NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments. 100% onsite at a government facility within the National Capital Region (NCR), primarily at the Pentagon, Crystal Gateway, Taylor Building, Mark Center, or other JSP‑designated alternate site. Must be local to the DC Metro Area with reliable transportation and have a valid driver's license.
