As a Microsoft SQL Server Database Engineer, you will be responsible for: Performing database administration activities, including installation, maintenance, and design of predictive analysis. Configuring, provisioning, operating, and administering database management systems and related software, as well as backend storage server and hardware platforms. Designing, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and fine‑tuning production databases while ensuring high data availability. Contributing to the development and implementation of database policies and procedures to maintain data integrity and availability, including software updates. Collaborating closely with development, business, and operations teams to ensure the security and confidentiality of data. Taking ownership of the availability, reliability, and integrity of business data stored in production databases. Note: This role requires full-time presence in a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility). Flexible working hours are available to accommodate your needs. Required Qualifications TS/SCI clearance with polygraph adjudication or active TS with the ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph. Bachelor's degree in an applicable field with 8+ years of relevant experience (additional 4 years may be considered in lieu of a degree). Minimum 8 years of experience with SQL Server database administration. Active Security+ (DoD 8570 Baseline certification for IAT Level 2). Ability to install, configure, and maintain database management systems according to project requirements. Experience performing regular backups to ensure data integrity and availability. Experience implementing and maintaining database security measures, including user access control and encryption. Skill in monitoring database performance and optimizing queries and indexes for improved efficiency. Experience handling database migrations and upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss, and troubleshooting issues promptly. Good communication skills to collaborate with application developers and system administrators for seamless integration and performance. Knowledge of Department of Defense policies, best practices, and industry standards for database administration. Experience implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG). Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and upgrading major database instances. Ability to work closely with system administrators and ISSO on application upgrades, documentation, and STIG remediation. Desired Qualifications Ability to design, develop, and document technical solutions, standard operating procedures, and change requests. Experience with capacity planning, utilization, and performance monitoring (indexes, tables, queries, and stored procedures). Familiarity with writing SQL queries to generate system data reports and modify data as necessary. Experience in database design and development. Experience architecting, designing, developing, and managing databases using relational database technologies.
