Mid Data Engineer/Analyst Python Software Developer to Support Defense - US CITIZEN ONLY Job Description: AVNIK has an immediate opportunity for a Data Engineer or Software Developer to provide analysis using US Government Modeling & Simulation (M&S) tools for Navy weapon Systems. The candidate will be working as part of an engineering team providing engineering support in logistics, maintenance, and reliability, analysis . Ability to identify, research, and analyze data sources/databases to define and extract critical information into an ETL pipeline for engineering analysis and visualization. It is essential for the candidate to establish and maintain close relationships with external government personnel. Candidates must clearly express ideas and concepts, perform as part of a multi-disciplinary team/Working Groups, and operate fluidly in a multi-tasking environment.. Responsibilities: Interface with customers to define data pipeline for modeling and analytics requirements. Improvement of existing software pipelines to manage data feeding into modeling and analytics environment. Integrate software analytics pipeline into government environment. Transfer existing software analytics pipeline from Cloudera Data Science Workbench (CDSW) into AWS SageMaker. Resolve technical modeling and analytics issues through debugging, research, and investigation. Provide charts, graphs, data analysis and technical/engineering results to leadership and customers Interpret modeling and analytics results for customer briefing development. Prepare and present briefings on analysis, current tasks, schedules, and goals. Provide input to team on discussion of technical issues, tasks, briefings, goals, potential funding, etc. Manage workload across multiple projects/tasks and meet delivery schedules. Ability to work independently with self-motivation Professional communication skills demonstrated on a daily basis. Education & Citizenship Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science , Data Science, Applied Mathematics , or related technical field is required and 2+ years of experience or MS degree with 0 years of experience. Advanced degree is a plus. Candidate must be a US Citizen .. Required Skills: Advanced Python software development skills ( Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Plotly, SciPy, and SQLite3 ) Ability to clean and parse large and complex data sets by building Extract, Transform, Load ( ETL ) pipelines Experience conducting statistical analysis - Excel and Python (Pandas) Experience working with databases using SQL queries Familiarity with GitHub Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets is mandatory Familiarization with Statistical Methods, Analysis and theory ( Linear Regression, Confidence Intervals ) Advanced skills with MS Office (PowerPoint), draw.io Strong written and verbal communication skills are mandatory Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents, and to deliver regular updates and feedback clearly and tactfully is essential. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance Desired Skills: Experience with Integrated Development Environment (IDE) VS Code Experience with Data Visualization (Tableau, QLIK, others) Experience writing technical reports and developing customers briefings Familiarization with M&S theory (Stochastic, Deterministic, Monte Carlo, Heuristic, Discrete Event) Object-Oriented Programming ( OOP ) Additional Requirements: Ability to successfully complete Background Investigation to include: 50 State Criminal, Education, Employment, Credit and Driving Records Checks for continued employment. Must be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance .
