Mid Tier Database Administrator Apply
Enterprise Horizon Consulting Group is seeking a Mid-Tier Database Administrator (DBA) with an active Secret clearance and expertise in managing databases within a Windows environment to join our team. This role is fully remote. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in database administration, performance tuning, and maintenance, as well as experience working with SQL Server or other database management systems (DBMS) in a Windows-based environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Administration:
- Manage, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases in a Windows environment.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, indexing, and data archiving to ensure system stability.
- Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related applications.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization:
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and apply performance tuning techniques to improve efficiency.
- Perform query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting of slow-running queries.
- Analyze and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
- Security & Compliance:
- Implement and enforce database security policies, ensuring compliance with government and DoD security standards.
- Manage database access and permissions, ensuring the protection of sensitive data.
- Conduct regular security audits and apply patches and updates to address vulnerabilities.
- Backup & Recovery:
- Develop, test, and implement database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Perform disaster recovery planning and execution, including regular testing of recovery procedures.
- Database Design & Development Support:
- Collaborate with developers and system administrators to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
- Provide input on database schema design, data modeling, and normalization best practices.
- Assist in the development and deployment of new database features or applications.
- Automation & Scripting:
- Automate routine database tasks using scripts (e.g., PowerShell, T-SQL) to streamline operations and minimize manual intervention.
- Develop monitoring scripts to track database health and automate alerts for potential issues.
Requirements
- Active Secret clearance is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3+ years of experience as a DBA, specifically managing SQL Server databases in a Windows environment.
- Proficiency in database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of database security best practices and government security compliance.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with PowerShell, T-SQL, or other scripting languages for automation.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- Microsoft SQL Server certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE).
- Experience with other DBMS such as Oracle or MySQL.
- Knowledge of cloud-based database platforms, such as Azure SQL or AWS RDS.
- Experience in a government or defense environment.
