Indian Creek School seeks a Middle School Assistant Principal for the 2025-26 school year. This position is a full-time (40 hours), 12-month position reporting to the Middle School Principal.

The ICS Middle School comprises grades 6 to 8 and focuses on developing strong thinkers, problem-solvers, and communicators through intentional and relevant coursework to develop readiness for high school and beyond. The Middle School implements a project-based learning approach to learning in its English, History, and Science courses to allow students ample hands-on, relevant, and collaborative learning experiences. In addition to a robust academic program, the Middle School is known for its strong community and student well-being program through its advisory, field trip, and co-curricular offerings.
Responsibilities
The Middle School Assistant Principal plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the division while serving as a critical partner to the Middle School Principal. This role sits on the Middle School Administrative Team and all school Curriculum Council.
Key responsibilities include:
Instructional Leadership and Support
- Regularly monitor student performance and coordinate with teaching faculty on student success and accountability.
- Partner with the Middle School principal in providing teachers with instructional guidance and actionable feedback on their teaching and serve as a key resource for Middle School teaching faculty.
- Provide oversight over the quarterly academic reporting process.
- Coordinate the day-to-day needs of the Middle School’s project-based learning approach.
- Coordinate semi-annual benchmark testing in partnership with the LS and MS instructional coach.
Student Conduct
- Implement the Middle School discipline process with a focus on helping Middle School students develop self-management, self-advocacy, and self-awareness.
- Monitor and support teachers in classroom management and daily behavior occurrences.
- Document, follow-up, and communicate behavior concerns and incidents with key stakeholders, including the Middle School Principal, Middle School counselor, and families.
Middle School Programmatic Leadership and Support
- Coordinate the Middle School advisory program by providing weekly advisor curriculum, serving as lead advisor, and communicating with and supporting Middle School advisors.
- Plan and lead Middle School community meetings to meet the vision and goals outlined by the Middle School principal for Middle School well-being and student life programming.
- Plan, lead, and attend all day and overnight field trips.
- Coordinate Middle School duty schedules and be present at key parts of the day, including carline and morning arrival.
- Supervise the Middle School SGA model in partnership with the MS SGA advisor.
Classroom Instruction
- Teach one section of a Middle School course based on candidate experience and school needs.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, master's degree in education preferred
- Previous Middle School classroom teaching experience
- Understanding of current and evolving best practices in Middle School curriculum, pedagogy, and programming
- Joy and enthusiasm for working in schools and with students in grades 6-8
- Strong organization and communication skills and a flexible and adaptable mindset
- Previous leadership experience such as department chair, committee leader, or grade-level leader is preferred

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's years of experience at an educational institution and prior administrative experience and responsibilities. Candidates will be offered a salary between $80,000 and $107,500 and are exempt from overtime.
