Halifax County School is seeking a passionate and student-centered Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will foster strong reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills while creating an engaging and supportive classroom environment. Responsibilities Teach reading comprehension, literary analysis, grammar, vocabulary, and writing Guide students through various genres including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama Develop lesson plans and instructional materials Assess student progress and provide timely feedback Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment Communicate effectively with parents and staff Participate in professional development and school activities Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field Valid state teaching certification (Grades 6–8 ELA or equivalent) Strong classroom management and communication skills Commitment to literacy development and student growth Preferred Prior middle school teaching experience Experience with differentiated instruction and educational technology Disclaimer The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
