KBR is seeking a Mission Engineer (ME) to support a Range Operations Contract (ROC) project team that provides various technical launch services supporting Sounding Rocket missions from WFF, Norway, Alaska and other locations. The ME provides technical aspects of requirements review and analysis, project support planning and scheduling, project risks, project design and test, project execution, and project closeout for launch services provided by the ROC. The ME will manage and direct engineering on multiple launch missions, providing necessary technical inputs to support mission build up, range instrumentation configuration, test plans, and launch execution activities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for technical/operational leadership of a small, routine project/mission within the programmatic guidelines set by the program manager and customer. Defines, generates, and reviews project requirements documentation. Performs standard technical studies to refine project requirements. Monitors project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained. Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received. May conduct basic performance/project analysis during phase-down to benefit future/other projects/missions/programs. Technical Skills: Systems Engineering per NASA standards Integration and Testing per NASA standards Support complex and/or technologically challenging tasks including the leadership in generating the Test Plans and Telemetry and radar support requirements Develops, maintains, and reports technical performance metrics effectively measuring the level of performance in execution of launch missions. Managerial Skills: Technical liaison with government and customer technical personnel of the mission Technical lead for providing range support to assigned launch missions supporting matrixed team and Task Lead Manages the various technical & engineering interfaces, identify and collect compliance and risks items; collect and document lessons learned Ensuring technical support to customers, providing technical consultation advice to Task Leads regarding design issues, development and test approaches, and test result assessments Core Skills: Strong leadership skills Ability to work well in a team environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Self-motivated, self-starter Strong organizational skills Ability to function in a dynamic environment with changing requirements and priorities Microsoft Office products Desired Skills Experience in launch, aerospace or space range operations. Fundamental knowledge of telemetry principles, data acquisition, Radar, Command antenna systems a plus Reports technical status to the stakeholders as appropriate. Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance Travel: Up to 10% of the year Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent. Mid-Level position into Project Engineering preferably with a minimum of 5-year engineering or related launch range experience. Belong, Connect and Grow at KBR.
