Overview Modeling and Simulation Product Development Engineer (EE25103) – Houston, TX. Develop and validate models and simulations of inverter-based resources, focusing on solar and battery systems. Ensure that products meet interconnection requirements and perform optimally in real-world applications. Role Accountabilities Identify new technologies that address present client needs or create demand through significant performance improvements, providing direct benefit to clients to differentiate the Company from competitors Evaluate feasibility, cost, and benefits of incorporating new technologies in the Company's systems and products Incorporate selected technologies into the Company's power products in cooperation with Company, parent company, and third-party development teams Define modifications to existing tools, and features of new tools, to support engineering and commissioning of products with selected technologies Establish and maintain effective working relationships and productive communication with the parent company to facilitate cooperation and coordination in design and development planning and project execution Provide technical consulting, coaching, and training to group company engineering and commissioning personnel to transfer knowledge of Company processes and product solutions for successful project execution Provide technical support to the business unit sales team in technical presentations, proposal reviews, and advice as assigned Develop electromagnetic transient and positive sequence models and simulations of inverter-based resources Conduct validation testing to ensure models accurately reflect actual product response Conduct simulation studies to verify products meet interconnection requirements Develop simulations of utility-scale renewable energy power plants including high penetration scenarios Identify new interconnection requirements and develop specifications for product design Provide technical support to the engineering and technical services team Provide recommendations for changes to applications of products at sites by collecting and analyzing field data as requested General Employee Accountabilities Bring full effort to bear on tasks assigned by manager Provide best possible advice and notice if work cannot be delivered as specified Cooperate and collaborate with peers and interact cross-organizationally as directed Exemplify Company Core Values: Integrity, Client Focus, Team Orientation, and Personal Commitment Comply with all Company policies, practices, and procedures and all regulations and laws Recommend viable improvements proactively Ensure effective utilization of business tools and processes Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with emphasis on power systems or equivalent via education and/or work experience 2 years of experience in modeling and simulations using PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF in an industrial or research setting Demonstrated software programming skills using C++, Fortan or modeling languages Demonstrated innovative problem-solving skills Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts Demonstrated successful and positive interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility Proficiency in MS Office Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20% of the time, often with limited notice Preferred Qualifications Master's or PhD in electrical engineering with a concentration in controls, modeling and simulation of electrical systems Knowledge of interconnection requirements and standards such as IEEE 2030.2, IEEE 1547, NOGRR 245 Experience with power electronics-based power conversion technology and applications Experience in power electronics-based New Product Development EEO/AA/M/F/Vet/Disability Employer Employment type: Full-time | Seniority level: Entry level | Job function: Engineering and Information Technology | Industries: Technology, Information and Internet #J-18808-Ljbffr
