Job Description

Job Title- Mongo Database Administrator

Project Location Remote + Some Travel to Reading, Pennsylvania

Project Duration- 12+ months contract

Worksite Location: If not local to Reading, Pennsylvania, the consultant will be required to travel onsite roughly 30% of the time.

Job Description-:

This position will function mostly remote but will have some travel to the clients site in Reading, Pennsylvania, but travel will be reimbursed to the consultant.

Must Have Requirements:

  • 5+ years extensive experience with Mongo Db Atlas and Vector database technologies
  • 5+ years' experience with cloud databases and cloud services, and Hybrid environments (AWS, Microsoft Azure).
  • Strong command of SQL, PowerShell, and Unix shell scripting skills.
  • Strong experience in SQL tools such as TOAD, SQL Developer, PGADMIN, Mongo CLI, Mongo DB Compass etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Understanding relational and dimensional data modeling
  • Experience in database migrations, upgrades.
  • Should be experienced in schema design and data modeling.

Job Description:

  • Design, deploy, and manage MongoDB and vector databases for small/large-scale applications, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Will be responsible for designing, implementing, security and optimizing MongoDB infrastructure to ensure high availability, resiliency, scalability, and performance.
  • Work with development teams to understand application requirements and provide guidance on data modeling and database design.
  • Implement and maintain MongoDB clusters including replica sets and sharded clusters, ensuring data distribution and fault tolerance also Implement and maintain vector databases.
  • Perform regular database performance tuning and optimization to maximize query efficiency and reduce response time.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database issues, including performance bottlenecks, query optimization, and replication problems.
  • Developing/setting alerts, observability for MongoDb & vector databases
  • Implement and manage database security measures, including Roles/Privileges, authentication, authorization, and encryption, to protect sensitive data.
  • Collaborate with system administrators to ensure adequate hardware resources and infrastructure for various database deployments.
  • Stay up to date with the latest MongoDB/Vector DB features, releases, and best practices, and evaluate their applicability to the organization's database environment.
  • Document database configurations, procedures steps to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base.
  • Provide guidance and support to development teams on MongoDB-related matters, including data access patterns and query optimization.
  • The role involves contributing to the development and maintenance of our data infrastructure, ensuring efficient handling of complex relationships and vectors.
  • Design and implement vector databases to efficiently store and retrieve high-dimensional vectors.
  • Optimize database queries, indexing strategies for vector operations.
  • Collaborate with application developers to integrate vector databases and knowledge graphs into various software solutions.
  • Process Requirements Documents (Design Documents).
  • Business process Steps/ FIORI Applications guidance for client users.
  • Functional Specifications
  • Unit and Integration testing evidence
  • Process Flows
  • Mentor and Knowledge transfer to client project team members
  • Participate as primary, co and/or contributing author on any and all project deliverables associated with their assigned areas of responsibility
  • Participate in data conversion and data maintenance
  • Provide best practice and industry specific solutions
  • Advise on and provide alternative (out of the box) solutions
  • Provide thought leadership as well as hands on technical configuration/development as needed.
  • Participate as a team member of the functional team

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in and IT or a related field.
  • 3+ years' experience designing business solutions in a hybrid cloud environment (AWS and/or Azure)
  • 10+ years Progressive years of experience in database technologies.

  • 5+ years' Experience with cloud databases and cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure).

  • Experience with database technologies (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Aurora, MYSQL, Snowflake & DocumentDB & Vector DBs).
