About the Role Full Time Days Continuous nursing, medical, and other health and social services 24‑hour, under physician directed care and RN supervision. We are North Medical Center. Under the direction of Registered Nurses in the Intensive Care Unit, the monitor technician monitors the cardiac/telemetry units by appropriate documentation, communication, and maintains an organized telemetry station. Primary Responsibilities Continuous observation of cardiac/telemetry units with accurate assessment of cardiac rhythm and/or arrhythmias. Complete evaluation and mounting of at least two rhythm strips per patient per shift, plus a rhythm strip when there is a change from the original rhythm. Provide the nursing staff with a written report at the end of each shift. Communicate promptly and positively to the appropriate nursing staff when the patient exhibits any rhythm change, especially life‑threatening arrhythmias (e.g., V‑Tach, V‑Fib, Systole), while maintaining a respectful climate for visitors, patients, and other personnel. Organize the telemetry unit and report needed maintenance/repair of equipment appropriately. Demonstrate motivation and responsibility for self‑development and education; remain informed of changes by attending staff meetings. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Successfully complete and pass an EKG course or take a post‑test immediately after the six‑week course offered at the hospital. Prior monitor technician experience preferred but not required. Evaluative skills necessary for the safe use of equipment and supplies. Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with patients, visitors, and staff; ability to recognize and adjust communication for patients with impairments. Ability to manage time, organize a daily schedule to meet productivity standards, and cope with professional stress.
