Job Category Nursing Support/Patient Services Responsibilities Monitor Technician functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) and is responsible for cardiac monitor observation and reporting of cardiac rhythm changes to the nursing staff for further investigation when indicated. The Monitor Technician will demonstrate knowledge appropriate to the age of the patients served. Qualifications Education: High School Graduate. Graduate of an Emergency Medical Technician or Cardiovascular Technician program preferred.Scores at least 90% on pre-employment EKG identification competency test. Required length and type of experience: 1 year Monitor Technician/ EMT/Paramedic/ Cardiovascular Technician (reading telemetry) experience Required licensure, certification or registry: BLS and successful completion of EKG class (in house class).
