Overview Join Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital’s team of caregivers that provide top-quality patient care to the Port St. Lucie area. This acute care facility opened in 2013 and expanded in 2017, offering 177 patient rooms and a wide variety of services. You will be supported as you follow your dreams and find where you belong, here at Tradition Hospital. The Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) serves as a live control center, with caregivers monitoring patients 24/7 to enhance care and safety. As a Monitor Technician, you will perform ongoing surveillance of patients’ cardiac monitors and provide timely notification of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics to the nursing staff that could impact patient condition. This is a great team you will work closely with while expanding your knowledge every day. A caregiver in this position works 2 12-hour days from 7:00AM - 7:30PM, including some weekends and holidays. Responsibilities Perform ongoing surveillance of patients’ cardiac monitors, cardiac rhythm and vital signs. Notify appropriate nursing staff of any changes according to clinician, provider orders and/or in accordance with departmental protocols. Interpret patient cardiac/hemodynamic rhythm and document in the electronic medical record. Answer the telephone and communicate clearly when receiving and delivering information. Orient and mentor new caregivers, serving as a training and troubleshooting resource for the CMU and nursing units. Provide reports for the oncoming shift. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities through formal training program in Allied Health or a healthcare field (e.g., Nursing, Medical Assisting, EMT or a similar field) OR one year of patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home or healthcare setting Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Preferred Qualifications Completion of EKG/Cardiac Monitoring Course Experience as Monitor Technician EMT, paramedic or firefighter experience Demonstrated skill in recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms Physical Requirements Ability to work in a fast paced environment under moderate pressure, multi-task with accuracy to keep track of a large number of patients and requires long periods of sitting and watching computer monitors. Visual acuity for observing cardiac monitor data. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
