ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general direction of the Special Assistant to the Mayor for Youth Services to develop and manage the implementation, improvement, and facilitation of the MPLOY Youth Summer Experience program and various other services throughout the City to equip youth with the tools necessary for becoming contributors or the greater community. Reviews and assists in the development of program budget and implementation of administrative program policies and procedures. Represents the City in external forums and facilitates grant funding opportunities for MPLOY. Provides work direction, assignment of duties, evaluation of work performance, and discipline of assigned staff. Manages various seasonal and year-round youth employment and enhancement programs and coordinates special events to further youth opportunities in the areas of education, health & wellness, economic empowerment, and civic and social responsibility. Processes the case management tracking system, performance standards of personnel, and the development or related policies. Provides assistance to and coordinates with various public and private youth services organizations. Evaluates current youth services provided and the need for additional services. Recommends the implementation of special initiatives to improve the quality of life for youth and manages the programs developed.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a personal computer and telephone.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment. Some travel required to work on-site at youth programs and meet with external officials.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Public or Business Administration, Education, Communications, or a related field and seven (7) years of professional experience in community affairs and administrative services with five (5) of the seven (7) years in a supervisory capacity; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Working experience with Microsoft Office suite is strongly preferred.
The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
