Job Type: Full-Time (4o hours), Sunday-Thursday

We are committed to providing an immersive and educational experience for our visitors through engaging exhibits, educational programs, and special events.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Museum Maintenance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our facilities. This position involves a combination of preventive maintenance, repairs, and occasional collaboration with other museum staff for special projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of museum facilities, including HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to determine the root cause of problems.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of faulty equipment, fixtures, and building components.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors when necessary for specialized repairs or installations.
  • Monitor and maintain the museum's environmental conditions to ensure the preservation of artifacts and exhibits.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of special events, exhibits, and programs, providing support for logistics and technical requirements.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and work orders.
  • Collaborate with other museum staff to contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to ensure the well-being of visitors and staff.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in building maintenance, preferably in a museum or cultural institution.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings for special events or urgent maintenance issues.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects, climb ladders, work on lifts at heights exceeding 20 feet and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
