The NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking an experienced Solution Architect / Engineer. This resource is responsible to work across the entire Cloud Services organization and ensure cloud solution are implemented as specified
The position responsible for:
oProvide technical leadership for one or more of the following domains: Business Architecture, Application/Software Architecture, Database Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture and Security Architecture.
oResponsible for finding opportunities to improve architecture using cloud and cloud-native technologies.
oHands-on abilities to build MVP (Minimal Viable Product) technology solutions in the cloud.
oPrior experience in digital transformation for large complex applications.
oProvides assessment of current state technology architecture and recommendation of future state technology architecture
oIdentifies architectural risks and plans to mitigate risks, ensures adherence to standards and best practices, and influences and communicates effectively with non-technical audiences including senior ITD and business stakeholders.
oCollaborate with Software Development teams, Product Managers, and Business Owners to ensure smooth deployment and operation of systems.
oGuide/Build CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large and small-scale systems.
oBuild and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations.
oDevelop Cloud Operation Framework, and roles and responsibilities for each category in the framework.
oAutomate tools to monitor system health and reliability to support business process requirements, Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments.
oCommunicate status and risks to the product teams, Help automate and streamline operations and processes.
oEnsure solution designs and implementation meet architecture quality standards.
oGuide Solution Architects / Tech Leads to ensure that application and integration architecture aligns with system design guidelines and enterprise architecture standards.
oMindful of the Healthcare Industry and Digital Health trends.
oSecurity Architecture / Security Controls Implementation
oGap Analysis and Mitigation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Competencies:
oActive status as an AWS Certified Architect (DevOps or Architect preferred)
oImplements technical processes to roll out solutions.
oWorks with the project team to deliver fully functional products in a timely manner
oKnowledge of CI/CD (Jenkins, TravisCI, CircleCI, AppVeyor, etc) is required.
oWorking experience with one of more automation tools and repository such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, CHEF, TeamCity, Artifactory, SVN, Bitbucket
oWorking experience with cloud native tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, ELB, Autoscaling, and EC2
oGood understanding of VPCs, Subnet configuration, route table, Internet gateway, VPC peering, Transit gateway, VPC Link, etc
oAWS - Amazon Web Services Certified SysOps Administrator Associate
oActive certification status on any cloud providers: AWS/GCP/Azure Solution Architect (preferred)
oActive certification status on any cloud providers: AWS/GCP/Azure Developer (preferred)
oTrack record of successfully establishing and implementing transformation programs in an Agile and DevOps environment
Minimum Education and Experience:
oBachelor s degree or higher in Information Systems Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Management, Engineering, or another related discipline
o5+ years of professional IT experience working with Windows Server or Linux environments.
o4+ Years of AWS Experience, CloudFormation experience
o8+ years of related experience including experience working with Agile Methods and modern technology environments.
o3+ years of Cloud architecture experience and cloud economics
oExperience leading cross functional project teams, workgroups.
oHighly desired - Knowledge of security technologies and methods for securing information
oHighly desired - Demonstrated proficiency in understanding enterprise architecture life cycle methodologies.
oHighly desired - Interpersonal and leadership skills that demonstrate collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, conflict management and influence.
