Job Summary:

The company, a leading aerospace manufacturing company, is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient CNC Lathe Machinist Level 4 to join our team in Gardena, CA. As a Level 4 Machinist, you will be responsible for advanced programming, setup, and operation of CNC lathe machines to manufacture high-precision aerospace components. This position requires deep expertise in CNC operations, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with complex geometries and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and program CNC lathe machines to manufacture parts with complex geometries and tight tolerances based on blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
  • Develop and optimize CNC programs using G-code and M-code for both new and existing jobs, ensuring maximum efficiency and quality.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance of CNC machines to resolve issues quickly and minimize production downtime.
  • Work with various materials, including exotic alloys such as titanium, stainless steel, and Inconel, to meet specific aerospace manufacturing standards.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measurement tools like micrometers, calipers, CMMs (coordinate measuring machines), and other gauges to ensure they meet stringent quality standards.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications to determine the correct machining operations, tool selections, and setups.
  • Work closely with engineers, production planners, and quality control teams to improve machining processes and product designs.
  • Train and mentor lower-level machinists on machine setup, programming, and troubleshooting techniques, ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and implement Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Document all production activities, including setup sheets, inspection results, and machine adjustments, in accordance with company standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical or vocational training in CNC machining preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience as a CNC lathe machinist in a high-precision manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace.
  • Expert-level knowledge of CNC programming (G-code, M-code) and CAD/CAM software.
  • Strong experience working with exotic metals such as titanium, Inconel, and stainless steel.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and CMMs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve machining issues independently.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to train and mentor junior machinists.
  • Ability to work under tight tolerances and deadlines while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with 5-axis CNC lathe machines or multitasking CNC machines.
  • Certification in CNC programming or machine tool technology.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, including working with AS9100 or NADCAP standards.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for tracking production data and schedules.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position in a manufacturing setting.
