Job Summary:

The company, an industry leader in precision forging and aerospace manufacturing, is seeking a reliable and skilled Press Operator to join our team in Gardena, CA. The Press Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining forging press machines to produce high-quality metal components. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate hydraulic and mechanical presses to form and shape metal components according to production specifications.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine the correct press settings and tooling requirements.
  • Monitor machine operation to ensure accurate production and adjust settings as necessary for optimal performance.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure they meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance on press machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with the quality control team to address any issues related to part quality or machine performance.
  • Maintain accurate production records and complete necessary documentation for each job.
  • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and report any issues to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that tools and materials are properly stored.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating press machines in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metalworking or forging.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools and perform basic math calculations.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight tolerances.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the aerospace or precision forging industries.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and mechanical press operations.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Exposure to loud machinery, hot materials, and heavy equipment.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and required at all times.
