Position Overview:
This role focuses on ensuring accessibility compliance and modernizing user interfaces across systems, while serving as a technical expert in responsive design and accessibility testing.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of full-stack development experience (.NET, SQL Server), proven expertise with accessibility tools and standards, and a strong background in modern UI/UX practices, with the ability to collaborate effectively on both technical implementation and user experience improvements.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in the use of Accessibility tools used to identify areas of non-compliance
- 5 years of experience developing complex applications in an OO environment
- 5 years of experience developing complex applications in Visual Basic & C#
- 5 years of demonstrated experience in XML, CSS, HTML
- 5 years of demonstrated experience in SQL Server or comparable RDBMS
- 5 years of relevant experience with UI/UX tools in emerging front-end development frameworks
- 5 years of relevant experience with source code management tool
- 5 years of demonstrated experience in MS Office
- 3 years of experience with modern UI/UX tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD)
- 3 years of relevant experience with accessibility testing approaches and tools
- 3 years of relevant experience with issue tracking management tool
Preferred Skills:
- 3 years of relevant experience with contemporary user experience guidelines and, if applicable, tools.
- W3C ATAG/UAAG knowledge
- Demonstrated experience with workflow diagramming
- Understanding of public safety and criminal justice concepts and precautions
- Understanding of grants management concepts
- Understanding of financial systems concepts
- Exposure to Telerik .NET UI controls
Duties:
- Ensure usability and accessibility compliance for developed and maintained systems, including Egrants, CIPP, JHELD, and others.
- Act as a key contributor in designing and developing user interfaces for an upcoming Egrants project.
- Evaluate applications for accessibility compliance (e.g., WCAG 2.1 AA), develop mitigation plans, and remediate identified issues.
- Recommend and implement responsive designs, optimizing applications for mobile and tablet usage.
- Collaborate with business and technical analysts to create prototypes and gather focus group feedback.
- Prepare recommendations for modernizing legacy .NET webforms applications into MVC or other contemporary frameworks.
- Assist the development team during product upgrades by:
- Testing changes and documenting results using Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Preparing and publishing product release notes.
- Developing test plans for user acceptance testing.
- Communicate status updates effectively to stakeholders.
- Participate in team meetings to understand upcoming changes and provide UI/UX recommendations.
- Maintain accurate time tracking for all work activities.
- Establish and maintain mechanisms for users to report digital accessibility issues or concerns.
