We are looking for a skilled Network Administrator to join our team in Oberlin, Ohio. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to manage and support network and server infrastructure within a dynamic university setting. The role is ideal for an individual with strong attention to detail, hands-on experience in Windows Server environments, network security, and backup systems, and who thrives in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
• Administer and monitor Windows Server environments, ensuring system performance, user access, and regular patch updates.
• Manage and support portions of the campus network infrastructure, including routing and switching.
• Maintain backup and recovery systems, with a focus on Veeam technologies.
• Implement and oversee network security measures, including firewall operations using Palo Alto technologies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve server, network, and infrastructure issues across the campus.
• Collaborate with IT team members, including network administrators, systems administrators, and network technicians.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and updates to ensure operational consistency.
• Partner with IT managers to address escalations and contribute to infrastructure improvement initiatives.
• Support the enhancement of network reliability and operational stability through proactive measures.• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Network Administrator, Systems Administrator, or similar role.
• Proficiency in managing Windows Server environments, including Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Hands-on experience with backup solutions such as Veeam.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with enterprise firewall technologies, such as Palo Alto.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based IT environment.
• Strong documentation and communication skills to support system clarity.
• Exposure to hybrid IT environments and experience in higher education or public sector is a plus.
