The client is looking for a Network Operations Support Specialist with strong telecommunications and technical troubleshooting experience, particularly in support of network maintenance events and customer impact mitigation. Here’s a breakdown of what the client is really seeking:Core Objective:To manage, coordinate, and support network maintenance events (both internal and vendor-led) in a way that minimizes customer impact and ensures clear communication and proper documentation throughout the process.Key Responsibilities Explained:Maintenance Coordination & Approval:Handle the scheduling, assessment, and approval of planned maintenance events across internal teams and vendors.MOP Assessment:Review Method of Procedure (MOP) documents to ensure maintenance is well-planned and risks are minimized.Impact & Conflict Analysis:Analyze circuits and services that may be affected, and identify scheduling conflicts or overlapping outages.Customer Communication & Scheduling:Notify customers proactively and schedule work to minimize disruption; validate customer records to ensure correct notification.Support & Troubleshooting:Use NMS (Network Management Systems) to monitor alarms and provide remote support to field technicians—this is not a field-based role.Change Management Support Line:Be available to assist technicians during maintenance windows and log real-time updates.Validation Projects:Support ongoing accuracy checks and database cleanup related to circuit inventory and service mapping.Technical & Experience Requirements:Strong telecom networking background (SONET, WDM, IP Routing, Layer 2/3, OTDR).Familiarity with alarm monitoring, NOC operations, and circuit inventory tools like Netcracker or OSP Insight.Experience with equipment like Cisco routers, Juniper MX/EX, Infinera, Lucent DMX, Nortel.Proficiency with MS Office and strong documentation/communication skills.Preferred certifications include CCNA, CCNP, ITIL, Network+.
