Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified Network Systems Engineer to join our team in enhancing tactical network systems. The ideal candidate will possess solid experience in systems engineering and will provide essential technical expertise throughout the lifecycle of acquisition programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Engineering Support: Perform systems engineering processes, procedures, and best practices to ensure effective development, testing, evaluation, training, and configuration management in support of acquisition programs.
Network Architecture: Provide engineering support on transport and networking architecture, focusing on current and future tactical network capabilities.
Technical Evaluations: Support design reviews and conduct thorough, in-depth technical evaluations and assessments of the network performance and architectures, including risk assessments and integration strategies.
Capability Support: Engage in Capability Set (CS) and Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) activities, providing technical support to evaluate and integrate new technologies to modernize communications.
Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with organizations, including PEO C3T, other PMs, PdMs, ACM, and Army-wide stakeholders to coordinate interoperability considerations.
Documentation Review: Review and comprehend acquisition documentation (e.g., mission needs statements, operational needs statements, Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Capability Development Documents (CDDs), and technical specifications) for Army tactical communications systems. Translate those requirements to support the development of standards-based and cost-efficient technical solutions.
Proposal Review: Review Government performance work statements and contractor proposals for technical accuracy to ensure requirements are met.
Proven Competency Required:
Demonstrated experience in network engineering.
Proven experience in designing and implementing LANs or VLANs.
Proficiency with routing protocols, multicast, routing configurations, and IPv4/IPv6 addressing.
Experience in network protocol analysis using tools such as Sniffer or Wireshark.
Familiarity with VMware and commercial communications equipment.
In-depth knowledge of transport and network architectures.
Understanding of end-to-end network design and performance, voice/data transmission, and backbone networks.
Knowledge of RF engineering and tactical communications systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Testing, or a related field.
A Bachelor's degree can be substituted with an additional four (4) years of related experience performing tactical network engineering functions.
3+ years of tactical network engineering experience in a military or similar environment.
Demonstrated knowledge in network design and integration.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA or similar) are preferred.
