NETWORK TECHNICIAN CATEGORY/LEVEL: PSS/10 BASICFUNCTION: Work in a team environment for technical support and servicefunctions. Providing security and infrastructure for NIACC faculty, staff andstudents. Support Information Technology used across the campus. Utilize changeand project management tools to log, monitor and resolve infrastructure issues.Assist with support of computer hardware, software, and infrastructure devices.Maintain a high standard of customer service and responsiveness to faculty,staff, and students. START DATE: ASAP SALARY AND BENEFITS: Starting salary of $55,600 to $68,200 based on experience. Benefits package includes Blue Cross/Blue Shield major medical health insurance; eye care, dental, life and disability insurance; paid vacation and sick leave; a choice of IPERS or TIAA retirement plans, and a variety of additional optional benefits. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of postsecondary education in Information Technology, Networking or related field, or three years of related work experience. Must possess strong problem-solving skills and decision-making ability with an ability to work independently. Due to our high standards of customer experience, strong customer service skills, including professional client contact skills (both telephone and in person), are essential. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Four-year degree in technology-related field. CCNA, and/or CCNE experience and knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, Cisco and Aruba networking, VMware Virtualization, monitoring and logging systems. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Take measures to secure College infrastructure including network switches, network servers, and storage devices. Take actions regarding the implementation of security policies and execution of threat mitigation and patch management. Maintain security for all software and hardware for the support of NIACC infrastructure. Configure and install current software and hardware for the support of NIACC infrastructure. Act as point of contact for vendors to support infrastructure technologies. Assist in maintaining daily equipment used in the infrastructure area across the College. Support and/or install operating systems and software on servers. Effectively schedule and organize maintenance windows and coordinate system updates, while monitoring network performance and network diagnostics. Work cooperatively with other technical support staff to perform the above duties. Function as a liaison between networking and server management. Maintain strong organizational skills, demonstrate reliability, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Fulfill other responsibilities as needed or assigned. Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment. NIACC Core Principles: All employees are expected to adhere to all NIACC policies and procedures. NIACC administration, faculty, and staff value a positive working environment and an environment of mutual respect; therefore, all employees are to maintain a positive attitude and respect for others when working with all NIACC departments, employees, students, partners, and the public.
