Job Description:
This position is responsible for providing subject matter expert of and for all technical aspects of GTD5 switch facilities including GTD-5 EAX Architecture consulting, resolution of simplex GTD5 tickets, reengineering the consolidation of targeted GTD5 switches for the recover of critically needed spares. This position works as a team member with Network Planning, Field Operations, NOC, and Nokia operational support teams as need.
Responsibilities:
- Provide all levels of hardware and software support for the entire GTD-5 EAX architecture.
- Function as the Frontier GTD- 5 Architecture Subject Matter Expert
- Provide consulting assistance as necessary for GTD-5 simplex ticket resolution
- Provide central office technicians repair guidance to assist with aged simplex tickets
- Develop re-engineering design plans as necessary to recover critical spares
- Provide technical input to the Frontier TDM office consolidation team to allow for the acceleration of the removal of the first five (5) GTD-5 central
- Monitor the top ten (10) worst performing GTD-5 central offices in the Frontier network and provide support the resolution of tickets impacting customer services.
- Work with internal Frontier team to identify all the systems that required Frontier support but are not included in the Nokia contract.
- Work with the Nokia Managed Services Team (Tier 2) to coordinate their process with Frontier processes in handling of the GTD-5 simplex issues and tickets.
- Work with the Nokia Network Infrastructure Services Team (Tier 4) as needed to accelerate the down-sizing of several selected GTD-5 offices to recover large quantities of known good GTD-5 spare cards that will be needed to support the Frontier GTD-5 network for the next several years.
- Train and build a regional GTD-5 SME support team to provide regional support of ALL GTD-5 central office technicians.
- Hold GTD5 Training / Education classes for Frontier regional technicians where necessary to get more technicians trained to manage and support the GTD-5 hierarchy at the end of its life cycle.
- Communicate with all peers and departments to ensure proper project planning.
- Must have detailed knowledge of GTD5 TDM switch operations.
- Knowledge of engineering tools and vendor software support tools.
- Excellent organizational skills, communications skills (written and verbal) and customer relations will be utilized in achieving desired results and are critical to the position.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects in various stages of activity.
Education:
- B.S. in Engineering or equivalent, or a minimum of 10 years of experience related to TDM switch plant operational and engineering support.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of detailed TDM Switch operations.
- Must have a solid knowledge of telecommunications TDM Voice Switches.
- Must be able to participate in and lead project teams to achieve team objectives and goals.
- Strong interpersonal skills are very important in discussions and meetings with the engineering team, regional managers, vendors, local supervisors, and technicians.
