About The Role

You will work closely with the Elective Surgery Manager, the Deputy Elective Surgery Manager and the Elective Surgery Management Team to manage the Neurosurgery waiting list. Key deliverables in this role is ensuring that within the team we treat patients within their clinically indicated timeframe and facilitate timely access to care for our patients

Classifications for this position will range from YU11 ($102,278.80 per annum pro rata)

Your contribution

  • Work closely with the Neurosurgery Multidisciplinary Team
  • Maintains a patient care process that provides a planned and co-ordinated approach to access elective surgery
  • Aware of the Elective Surgery Wait list Policy principles with regards to when patients are placed on the elective surgery waiting list
  • Attends allocated outpatient clinics and unit meetings
  • Liaise with surgical staff and other relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate case management of patients
  • Maintains regular contact with patients on the waiting list
  • Monitor the patient throughout the pre-admission process to ensure that patients are safe to proceed with surgery
  • Liaise with surgical staff to schedule patients for surgery in accordance with clinical urgency and equitable draw down

Qualifications, Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor of Nursing, which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Current Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia through AHPRA
  • Awareness of the Elective Surgery Policy and the Department of Health requirements.

About Elective Surgery Department

The Elective Surgery Management Team (ESMT) coordinates and case manages patients that are on the St Vincents Hospital elective surgery waiting list in accordance with the elective surgery waiting list policy and the Department of Health Elective Surgery Access Policy. The ESMT is responsible for the case management of all patients across the surgical specialties at SVHM.
