Position: Speech and Language Pathologists(SLP) - Inpatient, Outpatient

Start Date: 3/24/2025

Duration: 13 weeks with potential to extend

Location: New London, NH, 03257

Shift Type/Shift Times/Hours/Day: Days, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 8

Shift Notes: Days - 40 hrs/week

Weekend Requirements: None

On-Call Requirements: None

COVID Requirement: COVID VACCINATION PREFERRED FOR THIS FACILITY

Traveler Policy: Candidates' Permanent Address (Facility will not consider local candidates - 75-mile radius restriction)

EMR - EPIC

The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates, participates in diagnostic testing, and treats referred patients. And also participates as a member of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Acute, swing, and outpatient care.
  • The population is primarily geriatric, but there is an opportunity to grow it more for an increased younger client volume.
  • The candidate should be proficient with modified barium swallow studies/swallow therapy as well as common ST treatments for aphasias, voice, cognitive therapy, etc.

Clinical Practice:

  • Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
  • Based on medical referrals, medical records, and examination therapist evaluates, sets goals, plans, and executes treatment.
  • Reports findings to other healthcare team members.
  • Provides discharge recommendations, exercise programs, and family teaching, as appropriate.
  • Determines the need to refer patients to other diagnostic, medical, and therapeutic services.
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation and record keeping. Uses effective time management to coordinate scheduling of patients and meetings, and treats patients on time.
  • Demonstrates competency with patient equipment appropriate to the work setting.
  • Observe and evaluate treatment effects. Recommends change to physician, if needed.
  • Performs an appropriate assessment of each patient, as related to the therapy requested and provided, and reassessments, as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients, and the general patient population.
  • Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching, as appropriate.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
  • Identifies and addresses the psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
  • Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff, and administrative team.
  • Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
  • Consults other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
Submission Requirements
  • 2+ years of current experience
  • Master or Doctorate Degree Required
  • Must be willing to work Inpatient and Outpatient
  • Experience with Adolescent/Adult and Geriatric patients - Required
  • CCC - SLP Required
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with rehabilitation equipment including but not limited to, language/communication aids, devices, and wheelchairs
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Certification in LSVT LOUD would be a bonus
  • Previous travel experience - Preferred
  • Traveler must have their own vehicle for this need
