Non-Destructive Testing Specialist - Remote Apply
Job Summary The NDT Specialist is responsible for conducting or directing critical inspections and providing accurate and concise interpretation of results on gas or steam turbine generators utilizing manual or advanced NDT inspection systems. These inspections are carried out at fossil and nuclear power stations worldwide. The role impacts the quality of own work and the work of others on the team, executing standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. Latitude exists to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations. Roles and Responsibilities All on‑site life extensions, repairs and inspection‑related service activities at customer sites including onsite machining, NDT, blading, winding, critical welding, and generator diagnostics. Broaden knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy and support specialized technical roles while acquiring higher level knowledge and skills. Understand key business drivers and use this understanding to accomplish own work, integrating team contributions with other teams. Have autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework and resolve issues requiring technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures, consulting senior team members when needed. Lead a junior team as appropriate, develop strong customer relationships, and serve as the interface between customer and GE. Explain technical information to others. Support activities such as proposal support, equipment maintenance, process instruction revisions, new test development, interpretation of customer technical specifications, field training, and productivity improvements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of experience in the power industry. Current or recent Level II or III certification in UT, MT, ET & PT. Certifiable to ASNT TC‑1A standards in UT, MT, ET & PT. Valid driver’s license. Valid or obtainable passport for international travel. Ability to travel freely to and from the United States and work without restriction. Fluency in written and spoken English. Travel and work globally on short notice up to 80 % of the time, including weekends and holidays. Desired Characteristics Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Work effectively with minimal direction and supervision. Experience using digital data acquisition systems and NDT analysis software tools. Power generation industry experience in nondestructive testing. Experience in a customer service organization. Proficiency in MS Office. Compensation and Benefits Pay Range (U.S.) $72,400 – $108,600 USD annual. Variable Incentive 5 % bonus potential. Geographic Differential 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
