Job TitleNon-Supervisory Assistant Nurse ManagerMajor DutiesThe Non-Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area.Has responsibility and accountability for the direction and oversight of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and leader.Drafts schedules and leave for final approval by the Nurse Manager.Provides input into the performance of employees with the final evaluation completed by the Nurse Manager.Assists with making recommendations for selection of candidates for employment.Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision making, and evaluating outcomes; providing feedback to the Nurse Manager who ultimately ensures nursing personnel provide timely nursing care that complies with generally accepted standards of practice.Oversees work assignments and providing reports of contact or assisting with fact findings as needed to provide the Nurse Manager with the information necessary to make recommendations for counseling and/or disciplinary actions.Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes an environment accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments.All other duties as assigned.BenefitsVA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Monday to Friday, 0730-1600Telework: Not AvailableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not AuthorizedPermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized
