NSX Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled NSX Engineer to design, implement, and manage VMware NSX network virtualization solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with VMware NSX-T/NSX-V, network security, automation, and cloud integration. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to support software-defined networking (SDN) initiatives, ensuring security, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and manage VMware NSX-T/NSX-V solutions for micro-segmentation, security policies, and network automation.
• Configure and optimize distributed firewall (DFW), edge services, and load balancing within NSX.
• Integrate NSX with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, etc.) and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
• Collaborate with network, security, and infrastructure teams to align NSX deployments with business objectives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve NSX networking issues related to routing, switching, and security policies.
• Work closely with DevOps teams to implement network automation using Ansible, Terraform, or Python.
• Support data center migration projects involving NSX and SDN-based architectures.
• Monitor and optimize NSX performance using VMware vRealize Network Insight (vRNI) and other tools.
• Develop technical documentation, SOPs, and best practices for NSX environments.
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to operations teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in networking, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware NSX-T/NSX-V.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, MPLS, IPsec, etc.).
• Experience with firewalls, load balancers, and security policies in virtualized environments.
• Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).
• Scripting and automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible).
• Knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with tools like Wireshark, NSX Traceflow, or vRNI.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Certifications (Nice to Have):

• VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP-NV) or VMware Certified Professional - Network Virtualization (VCP-NV)
• CCNP, CCIE (Enterprise or Security)
• AWS/Azure Networking Certifications
