Nuclear Construction Specialist Apply

- Waterford, CT – Mechanical discipline (welding, piping, mechanical systems)
Employment Type: Contract (40 hrs/week, 2080 project hours) Schedule: Standard 8‑hour days; project-driven adjustments possible Travel: 0% Compensation: $55–$75/hr + per diem Reporting To: Construction Superintendent Note: This is not a Construction Manager, PM, or Supervisor role.
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years of nuclear power plant construction experience
- Discipline experience in electrical or mechanical/welding/piping
- Experience providing vendor oversight
- Ability to work onsite full-time in a nuclear facility
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
Position Levels
Level 1 — Nuclear Construction Specialist
Education & Experience (one of the following):
- 2–3+ years relevant experience + Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years relevant experience + Associate degree
- 6+ years relevant experience + High School Diploma/GED
Technical Background:
- Construction/project experience in mechanical, welding, electrical, or related craft
- Experience planning or implementing construction projects
- Exposure to design engineering or drafting
- Knowledge of mechanical design, procedures, and applicable codes
- Familiarity with nuclear modification processes
Systems Proficiency:
- Maximo
- SAP
- DocTop
- Microsoft Office
- PAMS (Plant Asset Management System)
Preferred:
- Dominion PSEDPN (Electrical) or PSMDPN (Mechanical)
- I&C Development Program
- Equivalent nuclear facility experience
Level 2 — Senior Nuclear Construction Specialist
Education & Experience (one of the following):
- 5–6+ years relevant experience + Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years relevant experience + Associate degree
- 9+ years relevant experience + High School Diploma/GED
Technical Background:
- Strong construction/project experience with increasing responsibility
- Hands-on project management in mechanical, welding, electrical, or craft disciplines
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical design and nuclear modification procedures
Systems Proficiency: Same as Level 1, with demonstrated advanced capability.
Preferred: Same as Level 1.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning and execution of construction activities within a nuclear facility
- Manage and document physical plant modifications following established procedures
- Coordinate with mechanical, welding, electrical, and I&C craft teams
- Use Maximo, SAP, PAMS, and DocTop for tracking, documentation, and compliance
- Ensure adherence to mechanical design standards and nuclear codes
- Provide technical leadership and maintain accurate project documentation
- Uphold strict nuclear safety and quality protocols
Work Environment
- Active nuclear power plant construction setting
- Safety‑sensitive role requiring adherence to nuclear safety standards
- May require site-specific training, badging, and security clearance
