  • Guaranteed Hours: (50 hours/week)
  • Compensation: Based on experience (Negotiable)

Position Summary:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs high-quality nuclear medicine imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols and standards. This role requires the ability to operate specialized imaging equipment, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, ensure patient safety, and produce accurate diagnostic images for physician interpretation.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform high-quality nuclear medicine and hybrid imaging procedures according to exam protocols in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate understanding of radiation dose reference levels and maintain compliance with dose monitoring and safety standards.
  • Take appropriate actions if estimated radiation dose exceeds reference levels, including necessary patient follow-up.
  • Utilize AIDET communication framework to ensure effective patient interactions and a positive care experience.
  • Identify patient needs, verify correct exam and patient identification, and establish rapport with patients and families.
  • Instruct and prepare patients for procedures, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the exam.
  • Position patients accurately, adjust immobilization devices, and set exposure factors and equipment parameters as required.
  • Follow infection control, radiation safety, and sterile techniques during all procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of imaging equipment and work area; report and assist in resolving equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers and physicists to maintain optimal functionality and calibration of imaging systems.
  • Manage inventory and assist in ordering and stocking radiopharmaceuticals and supplies.

  • Strong communication skills to explain procedures and reassure patients.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality standards, and efficient workflow.
  • Ability to maintain composure and problem-solve in stressful or urgent situations.
  • Competence in administering first aid and operating emergency equipment.
  • Dedication to providing courteous, professional service and improving patient satisfaction.
  • Willingness to serve as a preceptor, mentoring and training new technologists.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain continuing education and proficiency across all patient age groups (newborn to geriatric).

Certification / License / Registration:

  • New Graduates Accepted
  • Current or eligible ARRT(N) or NMTCB certification.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required).
  • Texas State License.
