Nurse Assistant Apply
Job Summary:
A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is needed to provide direct patient care functions under the supervision of a registered nurse in a long-term care facility. The CNA will assist patients with daily living activities, collect patient data, and perform designated patient care procedures, while also handling clerical and communication duties to ensure efficient department operations.
Location:Seward, Alaska, United States
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with routine activities of daily living, including range of motion exercises, ambulation, positioning, and skin care.
- Distribute linen and change beds as needed.
- Assist with feeding and meal delivery.
- Provide routine hygiene care, including toileting, incontinent care, and oral/personal hygiene.
- Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens and process them as needed.
- Obtain and record patient health data, including weights, vital signs, pulse oximetry, pain assessment, and I&O.
- Communicate patient status and report changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
- Perform incentive spirometry.
- Transport patients and prepare them for diagnostic tests.
- Assist rehab therapists.
- Set up pulse oximetry/oxygen therapy.
- Prepare rooms for admission and discharge.
- Assist nurses in emergency situations.
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Perform oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning.
- Perform blood sugar finger sticks.
- Remove IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Perform EKGs (if department-specific responsibility).
- Answer unit phones and direct calls accordingly.
- Perform data entry into electronic medical database systems and document patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Perform selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinate equipment/supply needs and notify the appropriate department of equipment malfunctions.
- Perform other related clerical and technical duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Certifications:
- CNA license in Alaska (pending applications accepted with proof of submission and valid CNA license from another state, verification of completion of a formal CNA training program).
- BLS Provider CPR certification through AHA.
- Previous travel experience.
- Long Term Care (LTC) experience.

Special Considerations:
- Must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major Winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years).
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility.
- The facility will arrange for a vehicle for traveler to use while on assignment.

Scheduling:
- 4x12 Variable shifts (or 3x12 Variable shifts - traveler's choice).
- Shifts will be either Days or Nights, dependent on facility needs at the time of the start date.
- Guaranteed 60 hours per 2 weeks; traveler can be called off for one 12-hour shift per 2 weeks.
