Nurse Assistant Apply
Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care functions under the supervision of a registered nurse in a long-term care facility. This includes assisting patients with daily living activities, collecting patient data, performing designated patient care procedures, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The CNA also performs clerical, communication, and other related duties to facilitate the efficient functioning of the department.

Responsibilities:
- Assists patients with routine activities of daily living, including range of motion exercises, ambulation, positioning, and skin care.
- Distributes linen and changes bed as needed.
- Assists with feeding and meal delivery.
- Assists with routine hygiene care, including toileting, incontinent care, and oral/personal hygiene.
- Collects patient data and specimens, including urine, stool, and sputum.
- Obtains and records weights, vital signs (including pulse oximetry), pain assessment, and I&O.
- Communicates patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
- Performs incentive spirometry.
- Transports patients and prepares them for diagnostic tests.
- Assists rehab therapists.
- Prepares rooms for admission and discharge.
- Assists nurses in emergency situations.
- Maintains and cleans equipment.
- Performs oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning.
- Performs blood sugar finger sticks.
- Removes IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Performs EKGs (department specific responsibility).
- Answers unit phones and directs calls accordingly.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems and documents patient care.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs and reports equipment malfunctions.
- Performs other related clerical and technical duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active AK CNA license in hand
- BLS Provider CPR certification
- Long Term Care (LTC) experience
- Previous travel experience

Special Considerations:
- Must be willing to work holidays.
- Little to no RTO (Request Time Off) is preferred; all RTO must be submitted with the initial application and will not be considered after an offer is made.
- The clinician will float within scope to meet facility needs.
- The facility provides housing and a shared-use rental vehicle to travelers during the assignment.
- Pets are not allowed in the provided housing.
- Only the traveler is authorized to operate the provided vehicle.
- The vehicle is for use "around town" and should not be taken off-road or outside of a 30-mile radius from the facility.
- The vehicle must be cleaned and returned with a full tank of gas.

- Guaranteed 84 hours per 2 weeks, but the traveler can be called off for one 12-hour shift per 2 weeks.
