Vivo HealthStaff is recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner in the Chesapeake/Norfolk, Virginia market. This is a permanent position with salary and benefits.
Position Summary:
Our client is launching a new integrated kidney care program and is hiring its first Nurse Practitioner to help establish and shape the clinical model. This role requires flexibility, independence, and comfort working in a startup-style clinical environment. As the inaugural hire, the Nurse Practitioner will collaborate directly with senior leadership, influence clinical workflows, and help define how comprehensive kidney care is delivered. Strong performance will open pathways to future leadership as the program scales.
Compensation:
The role offers a competitive base salary along with additional compensation tied to predetermined clinical milestones. As the first NP in this new program, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to and share in the success of a high-impact initiative.
Location and Schedule:
• Work across a portfolio of 3–8 dialysis centers in the Chesapeake/Norfolk, VA region
• Patient care primarily takes place between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM
• Clinical autonomy to determine patient visit schedules and daily workflow
Responsibilities:
• Conduct an average of 10–12 patient visits per day
• Complete annual comprehensive health evaluations
• Coordinate follow-up care, manage chronic and acute concerns, and collaborate with nephrologists, primary care providers, specialists, and care team members
• Order labs, prescribe medications, and proactively manage chronic conditions common among ESRD patients
• Build strong relationships with dialysis center teammates and associated clinical providers
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of independent clinical experience in Primary Care, Internal Medicine, or Gerontology
• Nurse Practitioner license permitting autonomous practice in Virginia
• DEA license with comfort prescribing for chronic diseases, including those associated with ESRD such as congestive heart failure
• Experience managing medications such as insulin, antihypertensives, statins, and other guideline-based therapies
• Must live within the Chesapeake/Norfolk, VA area
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD, and heart disease
• Background in dialysis or nephrology (preferred but not required)
• Experience helping launch new clinical programs or services
• Comfort working in a performance-driven clinical model with incentive structures

Requirements:
• Nurse Practitioner license eligible for autonomous practice in Virginia
