Job Description

The Occupational Therapist is a key associate at Hope Network whose primary responsibilities include Responsible for providing clinical consultations, evaluations, and rehabilitation programming for individuals at the Center for Autism.  Services may include: preliminary screening of individual needs for OT intervention, ADL and clinical evaluation and treatment, maintaining accurate data and treatment records accounting for treatment activities, and participation of departmental maintenance and program development.  Consult with center staff to assure comprehensive delivery of recommended services to individuals. Responsible to adhere to established standards determined by the Nation Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. in all areas of individual intervention and hold valid Michigan licensure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of job functions.  This job description is in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.  The employee is required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties as assigned.

  1. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
  2. Train, schedule and supervise assigned staff in carrying out individual treatment plans.
  3. Services provided may include: Sensory Processing evaluation, performing the ADL, IADL and/or other appropriate clinical assessments, designing and monitoring subsequent treatment. Identification of appropriate treatment techniques, activities, and/or programs within the scope of OT practice. Participating in staff education and training as needed.
  4. Promote community integration.
  5. Develop and implement groups, and family education from established goals.
  6. Ensure assessment, goal setting and treatment (treatment may include individual and group setting) are person-centered.
  7. Collaborate with primary Case Holder to ensure goals are included the Individual Plan of Service (IPOS) when necessary.
  8. Complete timely documentation of progress notes, initial evaluations and discharge summaries, home assessments, home programs, and consultation notes as indicated.
  9. Monitor individual progress and maintain accurate records of treatment through data collection and treatment reports as assigned.
  10. Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team for assigned individuals. Participate in individual goal development, coordination of services, discharge planning and family education as needed.
  11. Develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with all individuals.
  12. Attend and verbally present at team meetings, clinical reviews, staff meetings and in-services. Attends departmental meetings and participates in program development.
  13. Order individual specific treatment supplies and equipment.
  14. Follow established policies and procedures to ensure safety of staff and individuals.
  15. Provide supervision for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, and/or OT students as required.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

 

Position Qualifications

  1. Minimum Education required: Master’s degree require.
  2. Licensed by State of Michigan MS, OTR/L
  3. Two years of professional work experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate in verbal and written formats to meet position expectation.
  5. Valid driver’s license required according to Hope Network policy.
