Department of Consumer and Business Services
(DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.
This position is with the
Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division
(Oregon OSHA). Oregon OSHA is responsible for assuring safe and healthful working conditions for Oregon workers through promulgation and enforcement of Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, and by providing education and consultation to employees and employers.
This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

This position is eligible for
hybrid remote work
on a part-time basis once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform work independently. However, regular, scheduled office hours are also required.
Heres what you will do:
As an Office Operations Assistant/Receptionist, your duties will include:
  • Serving as receptionist for OR-OSHAs Central office by directing visitors to appropriate locations within the office and responding to phone inquiries from public and private employees, employers, state agencies, and other organizations and stakeholders regarding Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Divisions program responsibilities and services
  • Providing technical support for the Records Management section and Citation Processing sections by reviewing employer citations for errors and verifying for consistency, and preparing citations for mailing
  • Coordinating the purchase of office supplies and material for 73+ Central Office staff
  • Coordinating and arranging registration for all OR-OSHA staff training needs

Heres what you need to qualify:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents
OR
  • An associate degree in any field
OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requested Skills:
  • Experience determining customer needs to connect them with the right resources via phone and or in person.
  • Experience maintaining professionalism when communicating with individuals that may be emotional, upset, or angry.
  • Experience with supply ordering especially in an office environment.
  • Demonstrated experience maintain consistent attention to detail.
  • Preference may be given to individuals with existing knowledge of Oregon OSHAs inspection process.
  • Preference may be given to bilingual individuals.
