Job Duties

This is a wage position. Wage positions are limited to a maximum of 1500 hours per year (approximately 29 hours per week). This position does not include state benefits.

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth, strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

This is a public-facing position that requires In-person interaction with the public for scheduled office appointments and filing of court documents. It requires in-person manage of receptionist desk to answer agency phone system and screen client requests for services. Also requires in-person retrieval and delivery of court documents and incoming/outgoing mail.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, selected candidates must possess the following:
  • Working knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of manual and automated filing systems
  • Experience typing correspondence and transcribing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software to include Word and Excel
  • Experience operating a multi-line telephone system
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of staff
  • Ability to organize work and make independent work processing decisions

Additional Considerations

Additional considerations include the following:
  • Experience in an administrative support position
  • Experience using MS Word
