Job Description and Duties
Under the direct supervision of an Accounting Administrator I, the Office Technician (OT) is responsible for all functions of the File Rooms which involves, filling file requests, maintaining related data base and other activities as required.
Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in this duty statement including the ability to transfer documents weighing up to 50 pounds onto a cart and push the cart to various locations and able to climb ladder. May require grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching above, at, and below shoulder level. Requires mobility to various Division work areas and buildings. Must be able to work appropriately and effectively under stress, manage a complex and varied workload and meet strict deadlines. May require travel to State Record Center.
Requires prolonged sitting using a keyboard, telephone, video data terminals and frequent interaction with internal and external customers and other state agencies. It is important that employees work with others in a cooperative manner.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Office Technician (General) Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltranss evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employees designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Working Conditions
Position located in Sacramento, Sacramento County.
While at their base of operation, employees will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial light. However, due to periodic problems with the heating and air conditioning, the building temperature may fluctuate. Most employees will work in workstations within shared cubicles. Working hours will be set sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Overtime may be required, and vacations may be restricted during peak times and fiscal year-end closing. Employees may be required to travel in state, but travel is not very frequent.
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
