FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
CLASSIFICATION: Personnel System - Requires completion of a six month probationary period.
PAY GRADE: 109
SAFETY SENSITIVE: Yes; Subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance.

Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is providing information/service to customers. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:, visiting customer account locations, , processing work orders, providing assistance and information to customers, ensuring accuracy of monies collected and related documentation, resolving problems and correcting records, and performing additional tasks as assigned.

Job Related Requirements

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

May be required to work on religious holidays.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Must work cooperatively with others.

When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

High school diploma or equivalent with one year of customer service or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Receives daily work orders for new service, level changes, and finals.

Visits locations and distributes appropriate dumpsters, size roll carts as requested by customers, or places decals on customer owned cans.

Completes work orders and returns to Billing Supervisor for processing on utility billing system.

Receives and completes residential street audits from Supervisors.

Maintains inventory of dumpsters and various roll carts. Assembles roll carts for distribution to customers. Cleans and sanitizes used roll carts.

Collects daily deposit forms for service and billing registers from the Water Business Office.

Visits customers who violate recycling guidelines and issues contamination warnings.

Provides information to customers regarding service policies, procedures, and charges for service.

Collects compost routes.

Visits new commercial locations and obtains applications for service and/or dumpster contracts, as requested by Supervisor.

Monitors recycling drop-off locations and cleans sites.

Delivers garbage and recycling dumpsters, roll carts, and bags to customers.

Collects items for CHaRM facility.

Operates utility vehicles; ensures appropriate vehicle maintenance.

Assist with CHaRM in absence of CHaRM staff.

Assists office staff as required.

Answers the telephone; provides information; takes and relays messages and/or directs calls to appropriate personnel; returns calls as necessary.

Prepares and/or receives various forms, work orders, reports, correspondence and other documents; reviews, completes, processes and forwards as appropriate.

Responds to routine requests for information from officials, employees, members of the staff, the public or other individuals.

Performs other related duties as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including a motor vehicle, dumpster trailer, computer, printer, calculator, copier, two-way radio, and telephone. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for medium work.

DATA CONCEPTION: Requires the ability to compare and or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.

MOTOR COORDINATION: Requires the ability to coordinate hands, fingers, and eyes accurately in using office equipment. Requires the ability to use the keyboard, lift, bend, push, and pull objects or materials using body parts as the position necessitates.

MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as automated equipment, office supplies, and computer supplies. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

COLOR DISCRIMINATION: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.

INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate stress when confronted with an emergency.

PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear: (Talking - expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words). (Hearing - perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Must be able to communicate via telephone and two-way radio.
