Job Purpose:
  • The Region Operations & Strategy Lead - West plays a critical role in enabling the long-term vision and strategy for the region and leads the development and execution of platforms and processes to deliver on the key business objectives.
  • The purpose of this role is to support the Region Sales Director and the Regional Cross Functional Team to develop and execute successful strategic business plans and initiatives that deliver on cross functional regional goals.
  • This is a remote opportunity. The ideal candidate will live in the West region of the United States; Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Dallas or NJ (Novartis HQ is based in NJ), etc.

Major Accountabilities:
Region Strategy
  • Support Regional Leadership in the coordination of the Regions Cross Functional strategic plan, aligning priorities and objectives, identifying gaps, and managing pull through of agreed actions, and next steps of each function (medical, V&A, and NPS),
  • At the Area level, facilitate the coordination and alignment of the cross-functional RLT strategy and pull through across the team which includes ABLs, OSs, SAMs, ADARs, RTSs and MSLs.
  • Regional Performance tracking: Lead a cross-functional team to develop a comprehensive platform for measuring performance.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional partners to drive regional coordination with HQ functions that are operational enablers for the regional team.
Leadership support
  • Support Region Sales Director in coordinating projects and initiatives and monitor their progress.
  • Coordinate tracking of relevant KPIs (e g Reach / frequency, call quality) and rollout of promotional strategies to the sales team.
  • Support the leadership team with integration of change management practices related to structure, process, and tactical execution.
  • Create awareness of function specific strategic plan, actionable items, and next steps with each function while informing others about role specific key priorities moving forward.
  • Communication/ Engagement Plan: Develop and execute a comprehensive communication plan for all stakeholders in the Region (blogs, town halls, webcasts, recognition, etc.)

Project Management
  • Serve as a liaison across functions and support pull through of key initiatives.
  • Contribute to the planning, execution, and follow up for business reviews and regional meetings.
  • Support the orchestration of cross Region alignment and best practice sharing.
  • Manage the Region calendar to ensure appropriate alignment between priorities and scheduling.
  • Provide role appropriate overview of key ongoing projects with Novartis, including willingness of account/HCP/Office to engage with Novartis in areas of shared priority.

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $166,400 and $249,600/year, however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an at-will position and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements:
  • College degree-required, advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences business management or operational roles; sales, marketing, market access, incentives or strategy experience preferred
  • 2+ years in sales leadership preferred
  • Experience working in account-based customer engagement environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build relationships to collaborate with and influence cross functional stakeholders
