Onsite Data Center It Technician Apply
MalaceHR is seeking a Data Center Break/Fix Technician I for a short-term, 2–4 week assignment supporting a large-scale data center installation project. This is an entry-level, hands-on technical role focused on assisting installation and deployment teams with basic hardware diagnostics, break/fix support, racking, cabling, and documentation activities.
Working under the direction of senior technicians and project leads, the Technician I will help ensure timely installation, proper hardware setup, and smooth operational readiness of data center infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Break/Fix & Technical Support

Perform basic physical diagnostics and replace hardware components such as memory, hard drives, NICs, and power supplies.

Follow established runbooks and SOPs to resolve Level 1 hardware issues.

Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior technicians or vendor support as required.
Installation & Deployment Support

Assist installation teams with server racking, stacking, cabling, labeling, and asset placement.

Support initial power-on, validation testing, and basic troubleshooting of newly installed equipment.

Reseat cables, inspect racks, and perform light preventive maintenance during deployment activities.
Ticketing & Documentation

Respond to hardware-related tickets in the ITSM system within defined SLAs.

Accurately document all work performed, including component swaps, serial number updates, and asset changes.

Assist with inventory tracking by logging parts used and updating stock records.
Security & Compliance

Follow all data center physical security protocols and access control requirements.

Maintain compliance with site safety standards and change management procedures.
Qualifications

Entry-level experience in IT, data center operations, or hardware support preferred.

Familiarity with server components, basic networking hardware, and data center environments.

Ability to follow technical instructions, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on installation environment.

Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in raised-floor data center spaces
