Job Description

PURPOSE:

This is a tenure track position within the School of Business. Primary expectations include teaching undergraduate and graduate Business Administration courses (as assigned) in both face-to-face and online formats.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to plan and prepare course content and curriculum, utilizing assessment and effective methodologies of instruction for the enhancement of learning aligned with ACBSP standards.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members for the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum.
  • Provide appropriate classroom and online instruction for students enrolled in business course(s).
  • Maintain expertise in the field of study and teaching pedagogy by attending seminars, workshops and classes for self-improvement and/or professional enhancement.
  • Desired discipline-specific teaching with a demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness.
  • Commitment to the philosophy and outcomes of the School of Business. Maintain professional development activities.
  • Maintain positive relationships within the University and in the larger community.
  • Provide academic advisement for assigned students to make sure they enroll in the classes they need to graduate.
  • Perform research to further understand the field of study.
  • Serve on university or department committees as needed.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills related to teaching students in class and online.
  • Exceptional interest in teaching business administration and providing mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Teaching experience in methodology, curriculum development, evaluation or willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills no later than the first year of teaching.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • The ability to teach in a diverse population of students.
  • Demonstrated record of outstanding teaching effectiveness (preferred).
  • Demonstrated record of high-quality intellectual and scholarly activity (preferred).
  • Related industry or consulting experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • MBA, MST, DMgt, DBA or PhD in business administration, marketing or a business-related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
  • A satisfactory criminal background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
