divh2Job Title/h2pOverall responsibility of care of assigned patients in relation to surgical procedures utilizing in-depth knowledge of operative procedures./ppEvaluates, corrects, directs, and redirects care and assignment of staff as patient needs and outcomes dictate./ppDevelops a plan of care through a collection of data concerning the patients condition, the scheduled procedure and the doctors individual preferences; Adheres to prescribed procedures and set-ups./ppEvaluates patient history, lab reports, preoperative criteria and legal requirements prior to and throughout the patients perioperative care; Communicates information pertinent to patient care to other involved team members./ppPrepares and assembles necessary supplies/equipment for surgical procedures; Checks all equipment for function and safety. Demonstrates an awareness of cost containment and economical use of supplies./ppProvides the optimum physical environment and safety comfort for the patient prior to surgery, during positioning during surgery and post-operative; Sets priorities for patient care./ppAnticipates the needs of the surgical team as either scrub or circulating nurse; Practices, upholds and initiates standards of aseptic technique./ppImplements knowledge in basic sciences as scrub or circulating nurse; Prepares for unexpected/emergent situations./ppAccepts responsibility for care and maintenance of specified equipment./ppLabels specimens/cultures properly; Participates in sponge and needle counts according to policy./ppPerforms and maintains skills and competency on annual basis; Attends 75% of staff meetings and other meetings as requested./ppMaintain a thorough knowledge of departmental and Medical center policies and procedures as they pertain to the job, including the fire and disaster plans./ppMaintains quality and efficiency standards as set by the immediate supervisor; Performs other related work as directed by immediate supervisor./ppProvide patient care/teaching and performs tasks using job skills and growth and develop knowledge specific to the patients age and/or developmental level./ppPerforms other duties as assigned./ppCurrent Oregon RN licensed; AHA BLS certification by end of month 60 days from hire date and maintained; AHA ACLS certification by end of month 6 months of hire and maintained./ppMinimum of two years of Perioperative Nursing experience; Possess good communication skills, leadership skills in decision making, be able to implement hospital policies, AORN Standards of Care; PALS./ppMedium to heavy physical demands. Knowledge and efficient operation of all machines and equipment used. Ability to stand and ambulate within a controlled traffic area most of the working shift. Ability to stoop frequently; reach from floor to overhead level occasionally, push/pull up to 100 pounds frequently, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Work under daily stress and constant time demands. Exposure to slippery/wet floor work environment due to procedure related events.
