Operational Analyst Apply
Duration: 6-month contract
Location: Tualatin, OR (Remote Optional)
Pay Range: $69.19 - $72.41 per hour
Reporting to senior leadership, the Operational Analyst will be responsible for leading Power Operations Risk Management, developing and validating quantitative models, and providing analytical support for trading and portfolio management. With a focus on power, natural gas, and renewables, this role demands expertise in production cost modeling and wholesale markets. This position's contributions will drive strategic decision-making and risk mitigation in a rapidly evolving industry landscape.
Position Responsibilities:
- Leading Power Operations Risk Management, analyzing operational reports, and assessing trading risk limits.
- Developing new quantitative models, validating existing ones, and aiding internal partners in leveraging these models for effective risk analysis and decision-making.
- Providing analytical support for trading, portfolio management, origination, energy market risk, credit risk, and finance.
- Conducting independent analysis surrounding optimization in competitive markets and stochastic simulations.
- Identifying and implementing approaches to quantitatively evaluate energy infrastructure benefits, costs, and risks.
- Designing complex valuation and price models for structured products, including tolling agreements and revenue puts.
- Understanding and applying risk metrics models such as Value at Risk (VaR) and Gross Margin at Risk (GMaR).
- Proposing and implementing portfolio and asset optimization frameworks, including generation asset optimization and cross-commodity hedge optimization.
- Lead quantitative research related to macro industry trends, energy markets, and commercial activities using advanced tools such as machine learning and game theory.
- Providing statistical analysis and quantitative tools for trading and hedging purposes, including model commodity data and ad hoc analysis.
- Communicating modeling methodologies, analyses, and results effectively to diverse audiences.
- Providing expert witness testimony for market and regulatory proceedings.
- Making decisions within the existing Risk Management Policy and Procedure framework.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, statistics, science discipline, economics, or finance.
- 3-4+ years of experience in a similar role within the energy industry.
- Experience with production cost modeling and wholesale power and/or gas markets.
- Familiarity with Risk Management Systems and Endur ETRM is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to translate numbers into actionable plans for coworkers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with different organizations outside of risk management.
