Position Title: Operations Assistant
Reports to: Operations Director
Location: Office/Clinic
FLSA status: Non-exempt,Full-Time
Position Available: Immediately
Salary: $16.00/hr
Hours: Second shift, Monday - Friday
Position Summary: Support the mission and operations of Alley Cat Advocates (ACA) by checking in trapped community cats to the ACA Community Cat Complex, discharging cats after surgery, and managing volunteers helping with these processes. Respond to community requests for assistance and scheduling needs. Support the Operations Director with occasional administrative tasks.
Essential Duties:
- Check-in trapped cats at Alley Cat Advocates Clinic 3 evenings a week, check health status, complete admission paperwork.
- Check health status and feed trapped cats whose surgery was earlier that day, 3 evenings a week.
- Discharge Cats from Alley Cat Advocates Clinic to their caretakers 3 evenings a week.
- Manage Saturday trap distribution and return (when applicable).
- Receive communications from Clinic Staff regarding ill/injured cats potentially needing medical care.
- Communicate with Operations Director regarding status of cats needing additional care per communication from Clinic Staff.
- Train and supervise volunteers assisting in check-in and discharge of community cats.
- Clean animal facility areas including holding racks for cats, cages, work areas, and public areas.
- Provide support to community members who call with questions regarding upcoming appointments.
- Return calls from the public inquiring about resources and/or scheduling appointments.
- Administer medications and vaccinations when necessary.
- Transport emergency medical cases to designated local hospitals (when applicable).
- Provide support to the Operations Director and Operations Team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience Required:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Exhibit passion for animal welfare
- Ability to assess cat medical concerns or emergencies and respond with appropriate level of care
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds short distances
- Ability to professionally promote Alley Cat Advocates position on issues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Drive and calendaring
- Strong interpersonal skills: a team player, personable, professional, demonstrates initiative, uses tact and diplomacy, strong written and verbal communication
- Detail oriented with excellent record-keeping skills
Experience Desired:
- Knowledge and experience with community cats
- Leadership skills with the ability to train, encourage, and retain valuable volunteers
- Ability to educate people about the process of TNR in a clear and effective manner
- Cat handling experience
Additional Information
- Must be self-guided, requiring minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
