The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of warehouse and logistics operations within a third‑party logistics (3PL) environment. This role oversees multiple functional areas, ensures operational excellence, and drives performance against key metrics including safety, service, quality, and cost. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee daily warehouse operations including inbound, outbound, inventory control, and value‑added services. Manage, develop, and mentor a team of supervisors and warehouse personnel to achieve operational goals. Ensure consistent execution of client requirements and adherence to SLAs and KPIs. Drive operational performance through data analysis, reporting, and process optimization. Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost control. Collaborate directly with customers to maintain strong relationships, address concerns, and identify growth opportunities. Oversee workforce planning, labor forecasting, and scheduling to align with business demands. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA standards; promote a safety‑first culture. Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and Six Sigma methodologies where applicable. Manage inventory accuracy through effective controls, audits, and cycle‑count programs. Coordinate with cross‑functional teams such as transportation, customer service, and HR to support overall operations. Oversee budget management, cost control, and financial performance of the operation. Handle escalation of operational issues and lead root‑cause analysis to prevent recurrence. Manage the daily activities of a logistics operation to maximize scheduling and delivery of commodities to the customer. Interface with customer to ensure smooth coordination of scheduling and maximization of schedule adherence; provide input on local conditions, identify needs and receive direction on real‑time staffing increases or decreases. Enact contingency plans as needed; escape and direct activities during system problems, disasters, etc.; identify potential problems, troubleshoot, escape issues to local and senior management, and participate in post‑mortem analysis of problems providing input for future process improvements. Review ongoing performance results to targets. Take corrective measures with authorization, escape as needed. Responsible for providing effective leadership to the Warehouse Managers and/or team, enforcing company standards, act as a role model. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 5–8+ years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations, preferably within a 3PL environment. 3–5+ years of leadership experience managing supervisors or multiple teams. Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and distribution processes. Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and data analysis tools (Excel, reporting systems). Proven ability to manage KPIs, budgets, and operational performance. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, customer‑driven environment. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities. Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred. Progressive experience performing professional level operational and plant management duties; preferably in automotive or logistics industry. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write documents using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management and customer. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing multi‑client operations in a 3PL setting. Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certification. Experience with automation or advanced warehouse technologies. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to walk and stand for extended periods within a warehouse environment. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in varying warehouse conditions. Fast‑paced distribution center or warehouse setting. Interaction with material handling equipment and operational teams.
