GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Operations Manager (OM) leads Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by building a high‑performing team that drives top‑line sales growth. The OM manages a team of Task Associates and the Merchandise Manager, overseeing all aspects of store operations including realignments, planograms, inventory life cycle processes, and compliance. The role focuses on performance (sales, inventory, and operational compliance), people (talent acquisition, training, development), and process (standard operating procedures).
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance
Promote accountability to meet or exceed retail and service sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni‑channel, and shrink goals.
Drive profitability through operational excellence, top‑line growth, and expense control.
Use forecast and payroll budgets to schedule staff, communicate needs to the GM, and maintain productivity within budget.
Analyze financial and operational reports, including visit and audit results, and act on findings.
Leverage company programs and resources to meet Ulta Beauty goals.
Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
Stay informed on industry trends and product benefits to better serve guests.
Maintain attendance and hold associates accountable to the attendance policy.
People
Attract, hire, and retain diverse talent and address staffing needs promptly.
Build an engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through collaboration and open communication.
Create an inclusive environment that encourages associate growth.
Support manager and associate development with training, competency‑based feedback, coaching, performance reviews, succession planning, and development plans.
Ensure ongoing brand and category training for self and direct reports to drive sales performance.
Establish vendor partnerships that facilitate shipment and planogram expectations.
Model operational excellence and share best practices with the leadership team.
Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program to achieve store APG metrics.
Process
Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
Enforce dress code and operational focuses such as ad set processes, visual sets, planograms, realignments, and inventory life‑cycle processes.
Use scheduling tools to adjust managers’ and associates’ schedules and manage attendance in real time.
Use task‑management tools to prioritize store workload, including resets, pricing updates, inventory tasks, cleaning, and replenishment.
Manage service, boutique, and store inventory and ordering within budget.
Protect assets and minimize loss through safety, inventory control, cash management, and loss prevention.
Execute inventory control processes and report theft as required.
Support continuous improvement by adopting company initiatives and technology.
Communicate business trends, opportunities, and challenges to field leadership.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
2‑3+ years of fast‑paced retail or relevant management experience.
Financial management: success in driving sales, interpreting reports, managing payroll budgets, and controlling expenses.
Retail management: monitoring inventory, achieving operational excellence, fostering a service culture, and executing merchandising directives.
Leadership management: attracting, developing, and motivating talent; adapting to change; collaborating and influencing teams.
Skills
Proficient with basic technology (POS system, Microsoft Office, Apple devices).
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
Ability to react under pressure, use sound judgment, and remain adaptable.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Work a flexible, full‑time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Available to work shifts on Sundays and Mondays.
Attend corporate meetings and conferences.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Continuous mobility, twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, and reaching.
Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs.
Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
Frequent use of computer, telephonic devices, and office supplies.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 – $31.00 per hour, with opportunities for additional compensation through the Company’s bonus plan.
