Summary: The Operations Specialist provides administrative, analytical, and technical support for routine day-to-day operations within the Southeast Region. This role involves data management, payroll processing, inventory control, and fieldwork tasks such as monitoring repairs and handling public utility complaints. The specialist also serves as a resource for customer service and regulatory issues while acting as an on-call supervisor.

Position Info:

  • Title: Operations Specialist
  • Client: American Water
  • Duration: 12 Months
  • Location: 171 West Johnson Highway, Norristown, PA 19401
  • Work Mode: Onsite

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain databases and reporting tools for tracking water plant operations, capital programs, and regulatory compliance.
  • Process payroll, track overtime, balance accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage inventory control, including receiving, stocking, and ordering supplies.
  • Provide administrative support, including document preparation, meeting minutes, and travel arrangements.
  • Serve as a resource for customer service, billing, and water supply-related issues.
  • Assist with fieldwork, such as inspecting contractor repairs and completing necessary paperwork.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with post-secondary coursework in business, finance, or accounting required; associate degree preferred.
  • 5 years of work experience, with at least 3 years in accounting, payroll, or administrative support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and email management systems (Lotus Notes/MS Outlook).
  • Knowledge of payroll systems like JD Edwards and the water/utility industry preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
