Assignment Start Date: 12/11/2023

13 weeks | Varied | 8 or 10-hour shift | 40 hours with 32 hours guaranteed weekly

The Estimated Weekly Total is based on working the listed hours per week and includes available stipend amounts.

Provides safe, quality patient care in the Intraoperative area.
Accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care during intraoperative period.

Principal Responsibilities:

1.
Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards as stated in the Policy and Procedures.
To this end, employees will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within.

2.
Assesses patient status during the pre-op interview, and continuing.

3.
Provides safe, therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis promptly and by setting appropriate priorities.
Documents interventions and patient's responses.

4.
Ensures provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner.

5.
Utilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.

6.
Communicates appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information including, surgeons, anesthesia, management, and other staff.

7.
Safely carry out physician's orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities.

8.
Assist Anesthesia staff as needed.

9.
Displays an understanding of each patient's cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity in assessments, treatment, and care.

10.
Participate in the orientation and training of new employees.

11.
Maintains competencies to function in an RN role within a specific area.

12.
Protect sedated and anesthetized patients by identifying safety hazards such as electrical, equipment, and pressure points and by minimizing exposure to maintain privacy and body temperature.

13.
Expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique, and universal precautions.

14.
Assesses, anticipates, and implements appropriate care throughout the surgical process.

15.
Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

Experience: Minimum of one year OR experience; multispecialty preferred; CNOR preferred.
One or more years of experience in an acute care hospital is preferred.
MUST HAVE Ambulatory Surgery Center Experience

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registration:

  • Current unencumbered State of Oregon license as a Registered Nurse
  • Current CPR certification, ACLS, or ability to obtain ACLS within six (6) months of hire date
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • PALS certification, preferred

EMR System: Athena experience preferred

Shift: M-F (8 or 10-hour shifts, TBD by staffing manager) - 40-hour work week except holidays and first training week.
The facility is closed on holidays so guaranteed hours do not apply, only hours worked.
Hours worked also applies for the initial training week which may be less than 40 hours.

Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to manage emergencies in a calm and confident manner

Demonstrated flexibility and leadership with unscheduled procedure changes

Organize, prioritize, delegate, and assign duties to non-licensed personnel

Maintain skills in equipment usage and troubleshooting

Complete knowledge and understanding of peri-operative nursing care in the freestanding ambulatory surgery center

Evidence of working knowledge of the nursing process

Knowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care

Ability to work well with providers, clinical staff, and patients

Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work

Adhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for confidentiality, Infection Control, Safety (OSHA), Attendance, Personal Electronic Equipment, Punctuality, and Personal Appearance.

Participates in Quality Improvement activities including identification of opportunities for cost reductions and efficiencies.
