Oracle DBA with SQL Experience (Active SC Cleared)Location: Wokingham (Hybrid – 3 days onsite mandatory)Contract Duration: 6 monthsDay Rate: £425 (Inside IR35)Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance requiredOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA with strong SQL Server expertise to support critical production database environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, security and resilience of enterprise database platforms across Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server technologies.The Oracle DBA will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and optimisation of database systems. You will work closely with application development, infrastructure and architecture teams to support business-critical systems and ensure high availability, performance and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure and maintain Oracle and SQL Server database environmentsPerform database upgrades, patching, migrations and backup operationsManage database users, roles, privileges and security policiesMonitor and optimise database performance (indexing, partitioning, AWR reports, tracing)Troubleshoot slow-running queries and optimise SQL codeImplement and manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions including RMAN, Data Guard, ASM and SQL Server AlwaysOnConduct backup validation, disaster recovery planning and failover testingEnsure compliance with security policies and regulatory standardsPerform audits, risk assessments and security hardeningProvide L2/L3 support for database incidents and participate in on-call rotationCollaborate with solution architects, developers and infrastructure teamsAct as SME for database performance incidents, root cause analysis and major production eventsEssential Skills & ExperienceActive and current SC Clearance (mandatory)Strong DBA experience across Oracle and SQL Server platformsOracle administration (11g, 12c, 19c)SQL Server administration (2016, 2019)Experience with RMAN, Data Guard and ASMStrong SQL query tuning and optimisation skillsProven experience implementing backup and recovery strategiesExperience working within Linux/UNIX and Windows Server environmentsStrong collaboration skills across technical teamsDesirable Skills & ExperienceKnowledge of cloud-based database platforms (Azure, AWS RDS, Oracle Cloud)Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills
